My body is marked
By the stretching it has endured
I bring it to the water
When I am unable to hold it anymore
The bond between bodies of fluidity
The intimacy of being able to hold and release form
Sometimes, I shape-shift underwater
And return to life before my way through the canal
I shape-shift
Back to being a pure, unpunctured thing
Baptismal before breath
Means that
This body, that was brought to life
Was also, brought to death
And so, I surrender to this bottomless body
I surrender to its everlasting depth and width
I surrender to the absence of form within its grip
I suspend my breath as an offering to the most Holy thing
For the ways in which it holds this Holy thing
I call, my body
